Within the framework of the state-funded Corona test programme for tourism businesses, a good 65,000 tests have been carried out so far, and 2,256 businesses have taken part in the programme, the Ministry of Tourism announced on Wednesday. In the future, the number of tests will be published every week on the platform www.sichere-gastfreundschaft.at/beherbergung.
Since July, the Federal Government has been promoting corona tests in tourism businesses with a maximum of 85 euros per test – every employee can have himself examined once a week. Up to 150 million euros will be available for this purpose by the end of the year. All information about the test programme is available on the platform www.sichere-gastfreundschaft.at/beherbergung. A map of Austria shows how many tests have been carried out in which federal state and how many tourism businesses participate in the programme – but not how many of the tests were positive.
“With our Corona test programme for accommodation facilities we are strengthening Austria as a holiday and tourism location”, says Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) according to the announcement. “The offer of tests for an entire industry is internationally unique. We urgently recommend all employees of accommodation facilities to participate in the test programme”.
